Nature lovers will tell you to look to the sky for signs of the coming season and it’s shown me that spring is near. In the last week, I’ve spotted and heard many flocks of geese cross over, the song they sing is music to my ears, never gets old! The robins have been here for a few weeks now, hungry and I often wonder what they eat if the ground hasn’t warmed the worms yet? Blue birds are busy too, my chickens are laying again and I have bulbs peeking out of the ground.
Another sign is within me, the urge to sow some seeds, plan for more garden beds and get my hands dirty again, oh the smell of fresh, warm earth! Getting the greenhouse ready is first on my list, every year I want to plant more and this year is no different. More flowers!! Hollyhocks are one of my favorites when I need some height in a bed, zinnia’s are a staple and throw in some poppies and I’m a happy gardener, but I must wait! The best part of winter is that long, needed break to recharge before the next growing season and I’m ready! I’ve found ordering seeds online has changed my mind, did you know that Amazon and Ebay sell seeds, plants, and trees even? I’ve bought seeds from both and I’m hooked! Not only are the prices great, free shipping on most items and the variety is out of this world! Check them out if want to explore what they have to offer, just be warned, it’s addicting!
